Lunchmeat

I'm Cory, and I'm overpopulating the echo chamber.

GW sophomore. Aspiring journalist. Floridian-turned-DCer. Indie music snob. Red Sox diehard. Hopelessly and homosexually romantic. Streaky blogger.

Like, seriously, what was reporting before the internet happened?

Online directories, archived stories, a butt ton of information. I feel like I have it so easy.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.] Track: Ira Glass

This was the coolest interview I have ever done, and probably will do for a long time.

Full disclosure: Ira Glass is one of my idols. The host of “This American Life,” a public radio show that explores themes and stories that educate and entertain, has captured my imagination with his storytelling capabilities and journalistic integrity.

He spoke at Lisner Auditorium at GW Saturday night, and I was able to cover the event and interview him before the show for The GW Hatchet, the campus newspaper that I work for.

This interview also inspired me. Glass’s key quote that comes at the end, saying that journalism needs to be enjoyable, and young journalists need to be doing stories that amuse them. For me, this is something I plan on putting into action right away. Stay tuned.
